I sat across from a young man, about 15 years old. He looked like your average kid, acted like a little kid, made stupid jokes - his only problem; he was addicted to selling drugs. He wasn't addicted to using drugs; but he got high from the life style and money. He once told me that he would make three to four thousand dollars in only two days. He would buy food, clothes and hotel rooms from his friends. He would pay his mother's mortgage and provided all her needs. One night someone stole his wallet which contained two thousand dollars. His response; 'that sucked' and then he went out and made his money back.
He told me his destiny was to be rich. His only problem, he wasn't smart enough to be a drug dealer. He saw no other way to make money. This boy thought I was weak from punching a time clock and paying my taxes. His destiny was to make his millions, be happy and live life. The boy sitting across from me wasn't a millionaire, he wasn't happy and his life now was on hold as he lived behind the gates.
In the Last Samaria - the big Samurai fellow said to Tom Cruise; "is it possible for a man to rewrite his destiny?" And Cruise response; "it is only possible for a man to live his life until his destiny is more clearly visible".
Clearly this kid's destiny is not to be a drug dealer. But he is so addicted to the life style he is forcing himself to believe this is all he can do. What is a disappointing fake destiny.
